About

It started as an idea

That youth hockey should focus on building character

History

The Jr Spartans are a family of dedicated players, parents, and coaches, each working together to create a culture unseen in other youth organizations.  To quote the great Spartan King Leonidas, “A Spartan’s true strength is the warrior next to him”.

Community

The Boston Jr. Spartans are an independent Bantam hockey tournament team, comprised of players from various Boston neighborhood youth hockey programs.  The Jr. Spartans are not based on the traditional Pay-to-Play club model invading youth sports today.  There is no annual tuition, and coaches do not accept a salary or discounted fee.

As part of our program’s commitment to developing a well-rounded person, both on and off the ice, last season the team attended a tournament in Newburg, NY and took a tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point. During this trip, the boys met with the Army Head Coach, toured the hockey facility and met with some of the players. This visit exposed our players to the culture of USMA and reinforced the West Point virtues of Duty, Honor, Country.

Service

Much like their ancient namesake, the Boston Jr Spartans enjoy a culture of service to the country and community. Among many of our Spartan families are former and current members of the United States Armed Forces and veterans of the Global War of Terrorism. This virtue of patriotism extends to of our players, many of who volunteer for civic and religious organizations within the Greater Boston community.

Start of a New Season

In October, the Spartans will travel to Philadelphia to compete in a Bantam tournament.  The team will tour the National Constitution Museum and learn about the formation of the US government, The US Constitution, and The Bill of Rights, and how they impact all Americans.
